Poetry In Motion (Clip)

You will discover how a simple subject, like poetry, can be acted, sung, spoken, written, read, rapped, and drawn. Prepare to be engulfed by an auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learning environment. Recipe: Interview students expressing their experiences with a teacher who teaches to different learning styles. Add interviews with a teacher who plans her lessons to reach students who have different ways of learning. Mix in classroom footage of a "teacher worth paying attention to." Mix in the creative work of students as they share the product of their learning experiences. Blend with dynamic editing that likewise presents information in formats geared toward different learning styles and the final product is a provocative short that that doesn't just tell the viewer about diverse learning styles but engages them in the learning process.

He is a real inspiration...
I had one teacher in high school w/ the energy and motivation that he has, it really means a lot to students for this alternative type teaching and I'm sure he will be on their minds through adulthood...

We all need mentors like him

Subject: New Age B.S., Or Valid Points?
the main thing that this video shows is that having passionate, dedicated teachers is the most important part of an education process. whether you agree with the recital of poetry in class or not, the crux of this video is that teachers have an immense impact on students' interest in the world and desire to learn. learning is not just about memorizing material, it is about understanding it.

Subject: Poetry in Motion
If this is part of what goes on in the classroom, it is exciting; it if it is all that goes on in the classroom, it is terrifying. There is always
a danger that the snapshot does not do justice to the subject. From
this short film, serious educators should be both stimulated and
warned: learning is multi-dimensional, poetry is what makes math
worth studying. If I had a choice between Mozart and long division,
I would choose Mozart, because the math in Mozart is worth learning, and the joy of Mozart is worth keeping.
